1. Component role and operating context
Start with the component’s position in the machine or inspection process. State whether it is a granite machine base, inspection surface plate, guideway, support frame, measuring bracket, instrument base or another custom granite mechanical component. Explain what sits on it, how it is loaded and whether it is part of a CMM, optical system, semiconductor tool, laser system, machining cell or laboratory fixture.
- Describe the measurement or assembly task and the reference datum the part must preserve.
- Identify static loads, moving loads, point loads and any clamping or lifting method.
